New Superloop Speeding Up Travel for Newham

Newham will be the starting point for East London’s newest express bus link, after Transport for London confirmed the SL14 Superloop route will launch next year.

The fast new service will run from Stratford to Chingford Hatch, giving Newham residents quicker connections through Leyton, St James’s Street and Blackhorse Road. Transport for London (TfL) says the route received overwhelming support, with more than 80% of consultation respondents backing the plans and expecting the new route to speed up journey times.

Geoff Hobbs, TfL’s director of public transport service planning, said the SL14 will play “an important role in improving connections” across East and North East London, with work already underway to prepare for a 2027 launch.

The new route is the latest addition to the growing Superloop network, originally introduced to boost public transport in Outer London.

Deputy Mayor for Transport Seb Dance said the SL14 will build on the “game‑changing” success of the Superloop to improve links in areas that have historically missed out.

The SL14 follows the SL11, launched in January between North Greenwich and Abbey Wood, with more Superloop buses set to take to the roads through 2026 and 2027.
