This accessibility statement applies to Good News London. This website is run by the Greater London Authority (GLA). We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

• change colours, contrast levels and fonts
• zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen and without content being truncated or overlapping
• navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
• navigate most of the website using speech recognition software

• When using the "Search by borough" tool, if an error is made, then the error message is displayed for a few seconds in the bottom right of the screen. Some users may not notice this.

• The image used in the Good New London logo does not have an appropriate text alternative (WCAG 2.2 AA criterion 1.1.1 - Non-text Content).
• The main heading on the home page is not marked-up in a heading tag (WCAG 2.2 AA criterion 1.3.1 - Info and Relationships).
• There is no mechanism for keyboard-only users to display the reverse of cards on the home page. (WCAG 2.2 A criterion 2.1.1 Keyboard Navigation)
• If an error is made whilst using the "Search by borough" tool, the error message is not persistent (WCAG 2.2 A criterion 2.2.1 Timing Adjustable)
• The Newsletter sign-up form uses native HTML5 data validation. This may result in the error messages becoming detached from the inputs in Firefox and Chrome (WCAG 2.2 A 3.3.1 criterion Error Identification)
• A small number of input elements do not have a persistent, visible label. Users are not informed on how to use the flip cards (WCAG 2.2 A 3.3.2 Labels or Instructions)
• Input elements on the Newsletter Sign-up form do not have the required “autocomplete” attributes.(WCAG 2.2 AA criterion 1.3.5 - Identify Input Purpose).
• A limited number of text elements do not have a contrast ratio of 4:5:1. (WCAG 2.2 AA criterion 1.4.3 - Colour Contrast).
• The flip cards cannot be dismissed or hidden upon receiving or removing hover. (WCAG 2.2 AA criterion 1.4.13 - Content on Hover or Focus)
• There are not two or more ways to locate the specific web page within a set of web pages. (WCAG 2.2 AA criterion 2.4.5 - Multiple Ways)
• A small number of controls do not have a visible focus indicator (WCAG 2.2 AA criterion 2.4.7 - Focus Visible)

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

We will resolve all non-compliance issues that are within our control (detailed under ‘non compliance with the accessibility regulations’) and update this statement. We will continue to resolve outstanding non-compliance issues that are within our control (detailed under ‘non-compliance with the accessibility regulations’) and have created a backlog of potential accessibility and usability improvements. We have a roadmap to implement these by September 2026.

How we tested this website

This website has been audited to ensure compliance with WCAG 2.2 AA. A sample of pages and components were tested which reflected all the key user journeys for the Good News London website users.

This website was first tested on 12 February 2026. It was most recently tested on 27 February 2026. The test was carried out by Test Partners Ltd.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

We followed GOV.UK guidance on deciding how to check the Good News London website as follows:

• We manually assessed all the “unique” pages to determine the type of content on those pages. We identified a minimum representative subset of pages that contain examples of the most common layouts, components and features, including:
  • Important “unique pages”.
  • Pages with text content.
  • Interactive elements such as forms.
• We conducted a manual WCAG audit on the representative subset of pages.
