Enfield’s streets have undergone major improvements over the past three years, with residents benefiting from safer roads and better options for walking, cycling and public transport. The progress is set out in a new report examining the impact of investment from Transport for London and the Mayor of London.

Between 2022 and 2025, 54 per cent of Enfield residents walked, cycled or used public transport for their daily journeys, reflecting a continued shift towards more sustainable travel choices. This change has been supported by eight kilometres of new or upgraded cycle routes, helping improve local connectivity and make cycling a more practical option for everyday journeys.

Pedestrian safety has been strengthened through the delivery of 21 new protected crossing facilities, making it easier and safer for people of all ages and abilities to cross busy roads and move around their neighbourhoods.

Enfield has also invested in building confidence and skills, with more than 2,800 adults and children receiving cycle training over the three‑year period.

Alongside this, 250 new school cycle and scooter parking spaces have been installed, helping encourage sustainable travel habits from an early age.

Public transport has also benefitted, with new and extended bus lanes delivered to help improve reliability and support more efficient journeys across the borough.

Together, these transport improvements show how targeted local investment can make a real difference. Enfield’s changing streets are helping create safer, healthier and more sustainable neighbourhoods, supporting everyday travel while making it easier for residents to move around with confidence.
