Action Plan launched to support Deaf and Disabled Londoners

The Mayor of London has launched London's first-ever Action Plan for Deaf and Disabled Londoners which sets out bold action to make the capital more accessible and inclusive. It aims to tackle the barriers faced in everyday life and builds on City Hall’s existing work to support 1.2million Deaf and Disabled Londoners.

Developed in partnership with more than 70 Deaf and Disabled Organisations, the plan focuses on increasing accessibility across the transport network, improving access to financial support and public services, tackling employment barriers and holding housing developers to account to deliver more accessible housing.

Progress made to date has included increased step-free access across the Underground and London Overground stations, the signing of the British Sign Language Charter and additional support to help Deaf and Disabled Londoners access the financial assistance they need. The new Plan forms part of ongoing efforts to work with partners across the capital to create a city where all Londoners can participate fully in community life and access the opportunities available to them.
